In vitro cell culture is generally performed on plastic (or glass) dishes which rigidities are a million times stiffer than the rigidities of our biological tissues. Mecachips offers cell culture plates with elastic basements, which rigidities mimic almost all our organs. Mecachips proposes soft, elastic, controlled and reproducible environments for a more physiological in vitro cell culture.
MecaChips is an innovative technology of fabrication of soft hydrogels with any kind of physiological rigidity distribution, from uniform to textured. The hydrogel is made permissive to cell culture by coating with proteins from the extracellular matrix. MecaChips culture plates then offer unique chemo-mechanical properties, with biomimetic feature. Mecachips plates are proposed in standard formats, from 35mm dishes to multiwell microplates (up to 96 wells).
Our technology brings some major physiological feature to in vitro cell culture, the softness of the in vivo extracellular environment. Mecachips culture plates are ready to use (with controlled protein coating), with robust and reproducible chemo-mechanical characteristics, and can be used identically to plastic or glass culture plates.
Our technology is currently used for fundamental research at the laboratory for the study of cells’ mecano-sensitive properties. Proofs-of-concept for stem cell culture and differentiation are being finalized. The backing of Linksium to realize a high content screening (HCS) will allow highlighting the interest of screening therapeutic molecules on this type of support.
