Context
Although bacterial fermentation is a means of producing bio-based molecules, its application faces major challenges related to improving yields and productivity.
Technology
Thanks to a genetic switch, Switch2Prod technology enables dynamic control of fermentation. It regulates resource allocation to maximise either biomass or the synthesis of molecules of interest.
Advantages
Switch2Prod maximises the yield of molecules of interest without cellular stress, thanks to dynamic growth control. Applicable to continuous fermentation, the process allows for longer culture times.
State of progress
The technology is at TRL4, where fermentation performance has been validated on a litre scale. The project benefits from two patents relating to the genetic switch and the stability of the system.
Applications
The technology enables dynamic control over industrial fermentation processes, particularly in the chemical and cosmetics sectors. It allows for greater profitability and better utilisation of bioreactors.
