Distortions of the body schema exist in many psycho-corporal pathologies (e.g. eating disorders, schizophrenia, chronic pain, etc.). However, there is no standardized and ergonomic body schema assessment tool. The "Body in Brain" platform is able to generate reliable and rapid body schema measurements and provide a user-friendly interface to the user.


Body in Brain is composed of two measurement tools and a Web based plateform to access and exploit the data.

  • SKIN is a specific tactile tool which allows to evaluate the acuity of ones tactile perception and possible tactile distortion of the body schema of the evaluated person.
  • MOVE is a 3D environment stimulating motion and avoidance of obstactles. The tool allows the estimation of a potential distortion of the motricity in the body scheme.


"Body In Brain" is an ergonomic, transportable and usable platform for different medical environments such as hospitals, surgeries and individual therapy. It allows to measure the body distortion schema in real time and enables the comparison of measurements and perception over time. A need expressed by the users to support an efficient therapy.

State of progress

The prototype of the SKIN device is available for testing (TRL 5) and a clinical study will be carried out in 2023.
MOVE has been developed in 2021 and a demonstrator is available, currently being tested on healthy individuals.


Users of Body in Brain are professionals in healthcare such as neuropsychologists, psychomotricians, nurses and assistants in expert centres, etc. The plateform, its method and its measuring devices enable a reliable follow-up of the patient and evaluation of the efficiency of the therapy .
