Context
For monitoring the effort of a cyclist, some connected watches provide values of the bio-energetic state based on two measurements: heart rate and pedal power. To date, there is no monitoring system proposed, so it is impossible to ensure an optimized and safe effort.
Technology
SPIRO is built from a mathematical model of gas exchange and a real-time optimization function that decides at each moment the level of effort best suited to the individual.
This solution is based on a digital twin of the individual and makes it possible to evaluate the benefits of a given effort at any time.
Advantages
This new measurement and control system is non-invasive and portable: it allows to measure O2 and CO2 levels in real time and thus adapts the assistance to the cyclist's effort.
State of progress
A laboratory prototype is functional.
Applications
The solution applies to the running or exercise bike and is aimed at the general public practicing sports and fitness, competitive athletes as well as health for rehabilitation.
